‘Do you list your books on your website?’
We do not. Our museum is not a database of censorship, it is a collection of representatives of different forms of literary censorship. We present our books in a carefully designed context, with trained staff who can explain their circumstances. Simply listing them online does not achieve our educational objectives, and would misrepresent us as an arbitrator of what is a ‘real ban’.

‘Where can I find lists of banned books?’
There are many organisations that research and curate such lists, including:
‘I saw that you have this book, but it isn’t banned because I can still buy it.’
You may not live in the country in which the censorship took place, and also many of the books in our museum were censored in the past, but are now available.

‘I do not like one of the books in your museum.’
We also do not like many of the books in our museum, but we still think it is important to understand them and what happened to them. By putting the books in their historical context, our visitors have the chance to understand even the authors that they don’t like.
‘Can I donate a banned book?’
Yes! Click here to search our wish-list, or let us know what you have by emailing us or reaching out through social media.

‘My grandparent/cousin/distant relative died. Can I send you their entire library of unsorted ?’
Absolutely not. We are sorry for your loss, but our team cannot process piles of books that are not suitable for the museum. If there are specific books that you think are suitable for us, then of course let us know.
